hey, racists!
I just got back from doing work on my study about telemarketing fraud in the older population. Every time I go into my "lab" (a.k.a. the real world) to collect data, I always end up encountering some interesting characters.
For example, one potential participant was recounting a time in which some "Tijuana nigger bastard monkey" stole stuff from his home. He kept repeating that phrase, loudly, while telling me the story. It's not the first time that an older adult has made blatantly racist comments around me when I am collecting data. However, this guy was different because he was blind (ah, the irony). I was lucky he was blind because if he could see, he would have realized that most of the people in the senior center where he was at -- including myself -- were the "Tijuana monkeys" to whom he was referring. Hooray for racists becoming blind.
I understand that this man grew up during an era in which it was acceptable to hold such views, so I took everything he said with a grain of salt. It just made me wonder how it's going to be when my generation gets older. Will we all be foul-mouthed liberal elderly people? Or will we be uptight conservative fogeys like him?

Only the outrageous persons rise to the level of awareness. The people who treat you with the respect that you give them are the background that the exceptional Saint and Sinner stand out against. Most of us have quiet dignity and modest behavior. It is neither contrived nor absent-minded. It is native to our being.
I'll be foulmouthed, or dead.
What the hell is anonymous talking about?
Yeah, same here, acpatriot.
I think anonymous is the only person in the world who understands what he's saying. He appears to be one of those people who talks a lot, but says NOTHING.
Careful, he might call you Mexican. That's what my anonymous fan did.
What else did your anonymous fan say to you, mea? Being called Mexican is truly an insult.
There are plenty of pleasant old people out there, but they were also pleasant young people. Jerks are eternal.
He said some really horrible things, like why don't I dye my hair black and cut myself or something like that. And then he called me a Mexican. Which was just weird. Because that's such an insult.
sumthing, I agree with you. I just think our generation is more tolerant of racial differences than are older generations.
mea, that guy has a lot of insecurities if he is criticizing your every move. What he says only makes sense to himself and other fucked-up people like him. But I agree with him about the Mexican thing -- you should really look into not being Mexican (just kidding).
You should tell him that he's black. Tell him his skin pigment changed over time. How the hell would he know the truth?
Exactly, rob. Dave Chapelle style. I think he would have skinned himself if I would have told him that. In other words, hilarity would have ensued.
